Bottle tops off!

British Ironwork Centre near Oswestry recently announced a new project – the National Schools Bottle Top Recycling Challenge. Schools from across the UK, including from as far afield as Northumberland, Devon and even Belfast have accepted the challenge of collecting the most bottle tops.

This free project has been specifically designed to help educate children about the importance of protecting our planet while inspiring them to think both innovatively and creatively in order to help make important environmental changes.

A total of six life-size mesh giraffes have been created as an attractive and colourful store for the bottle top collections. Each participating school is given the opportunity to borrow a giraffe for a month where they can fill it metal and plastic bottle tops. Each school then uses the recycled bottle tops to create something of use for their school or community, such as art projects or even footpaths.
