Bridgnorth’s got Talent

Brainchild of Mayor Val Gill, Bridgnorth’s Got Talent will take place on March 26th and aims to give an opportunity to appreciate the wealth of talent in our midst. Val is keen to stress that it is not a competition – but a celebration of the many gifts shared among the folk of the community.

There will be plenty happening in venues around the town during the day with several exhibitions displaying paintings, drawings, photography, quilting, and china.

The climax of the day will be a grand Concert in the Castle Hall in the evening. In addition to celebrating the talents of the local community, a second aim of the day will be to raise funds for the Mayor’s Charities.

“People of all ages will come together to celebrate the gifts of our community and I am encouraged by the response from many groups and individuals who wish to be part of it. So I hope you will put the date in your diary!” said Cllr Gill.

And so has Much Wenlock!

The Wenlock Olympian Society is looking for entries to perform in the Live Arts Festival on 23rd, 25th and 26th March at William Brookes School.

In true Olympic tradition, this competition offers gold, silver and bronze medals in categories relating to both creative writing and music classes for children attending primary and secondary schools.

The importance of the live arts section of the Olympic tradition dates back to its inception by the founding father of the modern Olympics, Dr William Penny Brookes, along side his promotion of sport and physical recreation.

Please consider entering this year’s live arts competition and be part of keeping this tradition alive!

Closing date for entries is 18th February 2011
