Festival founder at Buckingham Palace

Anna with the Queen
A right royal occasion for Wenlock Poetry Festival’s Anna Dreda

Anna Dreda, founder of the Wenlock Poetry Festival, attended a recent reception celebrating contemporary British poetry at Buckingham Palace. The event was hosted by HM Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh on the eve of their 66th wedding anniversary, with Princess Anne also in attendance. Some 300 guests attended the event, including poet laureates, national poets, slam and performance poets, festival founders, booksellers and publishers. Anna commented, “It was a wonderful evening, full of warmth and humour, and it was lovely to hear Carol Ann Duffy, founding patron of Wenlock Poetry Festival, reading some of her own work.”

Wenlock Poetry Festival has become recognised as one of the country’s most noteworthy literature festivals, attracting some of the best poets and performers writing today, and it returns from 25-27 April. For details see wenlockpoetryfestival.org
