History week in Bridgnorth

History buffs will revel in events at Bridgnorth Library as part of the town’s History Week between Monday 5 and Saturday 10 November.

Monday sees ‘Old Boys, Young Lives’, a talk by Graham Jones at 7pm; on Tuesday at 7pm you can enjoy a talk on ‘Writing History’ by Katherine Swift, author of the Morville Hours; Wednesday sees a guided walk with Derek Crockson called ‘You Wouldn’t Want to End Up Here!’, which runs from 10.30am until noon, followed by an exploration of Bridgnorth Infirmary by Gillian Waugh Pead at 7pm; on Thursday Professor John Buckley will talk about the 4th Battalion of the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry; on Friday, Susannah Stapleton will talk about the Bridgnorth Women’s Suffrage Society. The week culminates with a drop-in History day running from 10am to 1pm – this is free, while other events are £3.50.
