Implementation time for town plan

With the community-wide endeavours to compile a town plan for Bridgnorth successfully completed, the project has now moved into the implementation phase, with community groups set up to ensure that ideas generated within the plan come to fruition.

There are six groups, which all draw upon a good mixture of local people: The housing group, which is looking at local needs and the development of affordable housing; the environment group which is putting together a ‘town design statement’ focussing on the important visual aspect of Bridgnorth – particularly shop fronts and A-boards; a young persons group, which is very busy looking at implementing some of the many suggestions in this part of the questionnaire – particularly a skate park; the town centre group which has its goals in tourism, community safety and life long learning; the health and wellbeing group and finally the economic and business support group.

Anne Wilson who chairs the implementation panel said; “these groups are well supported, by a good cross section of the community who all have different experiences and levels of expertise. Particularly pleasing is the young persons group – we had over 60 youngsters attending a meeting to give their views about the proposed skate park – that’s community involvement at its best.”
