Walking the walk

Walk5

With walk day weather this year almost ideal for walking, about 850 senior walkers set off from Bridgnorth High Street to complete the 22 mile annual charity fundraiser, which was sponsored this year by Designer Time. The walkers were joined at Ditton Priors by 140 juniors for the seven-mile Phil Rutter memorial walk. Between all the walkers, it is expected that over £115,000 has been raised for a multitude of good causes.

Prize presentation night is on Monday 15 July at St Mary’s Church and is open to all, with prizes awarded to the quickest finishers and top fundraisers.

Speaking to What’s What! Bridgnorth Walk chair Vicky Morris said, “There are so many people who get involved every year, besides the walkers. I must mention Mayor Ray Gill who walked on the day, finishing in an impressive time, and then stayed until the very end together with his wife Val, greeting every walker. The Bridgnorth Walk is a wonderful community fundraiser and the committee would like to thank all involved.”
