Six year old tees off

Jack Dirkin

A young boy from Lightmoor in Telford is already making waves in the golfing world. Six-year-old Jack Dirkin won the UK Grand Final (age 5/6) at St Andrews and came ninth in the European Boys’ U7s finals, and this August he played at Pinehurst, North Carolina in the World Junior Finals.

Dad Chris says, “While Jack is talented, we’re also very keen to not put him off enjoying and playing golf so his practice time is only two or three hours a week. We want him to be happy and to do things a six-year-old boy would do.”

Jack’s pastime is a costly one, with this year alone costing in excess of £15,000 and the family hold a range of fundraising days and seek support from local businesses as well as providing funding themselves. If you’d like to help, call 07478 329332 or follow @JackDirkinGolf on Twitter.
