Free event to help start your own business

A free full-day workshop is to be held in Shropshire in to help anyone thinking of starting their own business.

The New Year: New Venture event at Shrewsbury Town’s stadium will bring together experts from Shropshire Growth Hub and the British Business Bank to deliver vital tips and insight into starting a new business.

The 28 January event – which runs from 9.30am to 4.15pm – is open to anyone from the Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Council areas.

Shropshire Growth Hub manager Emma Chapman said experts taking part included Tracy Sherratt (pictured) of the British Business Bank, Jamie Pratt, from Stockton Business Consulting, and Matthew Woodhead of WCL Consulting.

Starting a new business is an exciting prospect but can be daunting too, as there are so many things to consider. This full-day workshop can help you take the first steps and will guide you through the ‘essentials’ of starting your own business. Delivered in partnership with the British Business Bank and our start-up support specialists this is an opportunity not to be missed.”

The event will cover start-up essentials including:

  • Starting a business successfully.
  • Choosing the right business structure.
  • Creating a business model, mission and vision.
  • Understanding cashflow and funding a start-up business.
  • Identifying your customers and the basics of marketing and market research.
  • All the support available through the Shropshire Growth Hub.
