New push for Cameron’s Fund

Gemma and Puff

Gemma and Ashley Brown of Bridgnorth have been inspired by a friend’s efforts to sign up for the Market Drayton 10k on May 8. The pair, who lost their son Cameron to asthma in 2008 and have two other sons with the disease, say they’ve watched pal Dana Power compete in runs to raise funds for their charity Cameron’s Fund as well as other causes – and now they’re giving it a go themselves.

Gemma explains, “Dana has raised so much money… he even runs marathons dressed as a dragon, which we think is pretty amazing. So we decided it would be a great idea to have a go at this running malarky ourselves!”

But it hasn’t been easy, according to Gemma: “I soon found out I’m not a natural runner; I’m slower than others, it’s harder than I’d like it to be and the hills are killers… but I struggle to avoid them in Bridgnorth. Our boys aged 3 and 7 have signed up to the kids’ run and are looking forward to gaining their first medal.”
