Humanist garden wins again

Shropshire Humanists’ Carol Seager repeated her success from 2017 at this year’s Shrewsbury Flower Show, winning again a Large Gold Medal and the Mike Hough Memorial Trophy for best outdoor show garden. The show theme was ‘Times Gone By’, which Carol interpreted in a floral reflection of the passing of time as expressed by the celebration of life’s milestones, called ‘Dawn till Dusk’. The garden’s centrepiece was a sundial, a way of marking the passing of time, and a metaphor for life’s journey marked by the ceremonies of baby namings, weddings and funerals.

The display highlights how humanist celebrants conduct non-religious, personally-focused, meaningful celebrations that mark significant life events.
