Tusker the mammoth is a well-loved favourite with all who visit Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. He has been greeting visitors from the front of the centre for nearly 20 years and recently underwent a ‘refurr-b’ to freshen up his look after years of cuddles and pats on the head.
As part of the larger summer project, local artist, Helen Worrell, has created a jaw-dropping mural of Tusker to brighten the walls of the Centre for future visitors to enjoy.
Jade Marriott-Lodge, of the Centre says, “We are very proud of our Tusker portrait and we would like to thank Helen for kindly agreeing to paint him for us again. Helen is an avid supporter and volunteer of the Centre and it has been great to have her involved. We think she has captured Tusker’s character perfectly and we’re looking forward to the future projects that will fill the Centre’s walls with fun and colour.”
