Y6 children from St Leonard’s CE Primary in Bridgnorth were among those who entered this year’s Shrewsbury Bookfest Creative Writing competition. Each entrant wrote a story following a visit from children’s author Jo Cotterill. From over 1,500 entries, eight winners were selected, and Dame Jacqueline Wilson led a prize-giving ceremony at a public event in Shrewsbury on Saturday 4 May.
Montana Malin of St Leonards’ won third prize with her highly acclaimed story entitled Bully.

Jane Payton – Trustee of Shrewsbury Bookfest and previously head teacher of St John’s Catholic Primary School, said, “The judging was not an easy task. Every child that entered showed tremendous creativity. The quality of writing and presentation of the entries was amazing. All the books were a pleasure to read.”
