Cold weather hedgehogs

As the colder weather is now upon us, wildlife charities are asking people to look out for smaller or underweight hedgehogs in their gardens. If hedgehogs are not fattened up enough ready for winter, it is difficult for them to survive and they cannot go into hibernation. It is a good idea to put food out to feed up any hedgehogs that visit you, together with a good supply of clean water (keeping an eye out that any water doesn’t freeze over). If you do see small hedgehogs, call Cuan Wildlife Rescue for advice on 01952 728070.

Remember Bear, the spineless hedgehog? Cuan Wildlife is launching a children’s story book about Bear just in time for Christmas. Written by Gill Griffith, illustrated by Isobel Bushell and published by Ina Taylor, the book will charm small wildlife fans while supporting hedgehogs like Bear. “We are incredibly proud to launch this exciting book,” says Tina Cooke, Cuan’s community fundraiser.
