New school building

Conakry Refugee School in Guinea, West Africa a school solely supported by a Broseley based charity, has moved to new premises which are able to house all 500 students. “Previous conditions were cramped, dark and spread across three sites”, said charity founder Ruth Walmsley. “The new building has no electricity but more natural light.” A Telford school has raised funds to provide new furniture, but there isn’t sufficient money to decorate the interior of the school.

“The students are very proud of their new school but would be even happier if it could be painted. Maybe a local school would like raise funds?” suggests Ruth.

The Friends of Conakry Refugee School will be hosting their annual fundraising concert at the Birchmeadow Centre on 24th March. If you would like to help raise money for paint for the new school, do get in touch with us here at What’s What!
