Ladies at Tideway

Eight ladies from Bridgnorth Rowing Club made history last month as the first female crew from the club to compete in the prestigious Tideway Race on the Thames. The 6.8km course from Chiswick to Putney (the University Boat Race backwards) saw over 300 crews competing, including international crews and top clubs like Leander.

A fairly novice crew, Bridgnorth finished in a good time, beating local rivals Bewdley. The crew were: Charlotte Jukes, Barbara Webb, Liz Coulter, Claire Taylor, Lucy Wycherley, Sam Colclough, Kronor Nicholas and Sarah Overton and they are looking forward to racing throughout the summer and building on this year’s success.
