Broseley celebrates its community heroes.

Broseley Festival CIC has held the very first Broseley Festival Community Hero Awards. Launched earlier in the year, Broseley Festival’s Community Hero Awards celebrated those in the local community who have selflessly gone above and beyond to help others in the community or during the coronavirus pandemic.

Ten winners were announced on the night which included Sarah Sivill winning the Lifetime Achievement Award for putting herself at risk on the Frontline throughout the coronavirus pandemic, managing the respiratory, Covid-19 ward at Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital.

The highlight of the night came when Harry Griffiths, one of Broseley few remaining war veterans, received a standing ovation for his Special Recognition Award for the bravery he showed during his time in the Korean war. Awards were also presented to Mo Griffiths, Broseley Community First Responders, Niamh Perrins, Broseley’s Lady Forester Hospital staff, Kaz Corbett, Now Electrical UK, Broseley C of E Primary School and Broseley’s Friendly Bus volunteers.

The awards were presented by Lish Crutchley, Face of Britain 2021 and local radio DJ Barry Davies. The night also featured a special performance from ITV’s The Voice Kids star, Liam Price.

Broseley Festival directors Daniel and Debbie Glaze said, “It was an honour to organise the awards and celebrate all the incredible winners. The event proved to be a great success and was so well supported by the community. Everyone had a wonderful night celebrating our wonderful winners who were voted for by the public.”
