Art exhibition and workshops in aid of Ark

The Shrewsbury Ark is a day centre in the heart of Shrewsubury dedicated to helping homeless and vulnerable people in our community to turn their lives around.

The Ark statistics from the period July 2022 to June 2023 show that the total number of visits made by people during this period were 10,112 and 39 people on average come through the doors each day to use the Ark’s services.

Emily Bell the chair of the trustees said: “As an independent charity we rely entirely on donations and fundraising to ensure that individuals facing homelessness, receive the help they need to rebuild their lives.“

Louise Southan and Ben Wiseman are two Shropshire artists raising funds for the Ark by putting on a charity art exhibition at the Bear Steps Gallery in Shrewsbury from March 31 to April 13. The Gallery is open Monday to Saturday 10am-4pm.

In addition Louise and Ben are putting on a selection of canapés and drinks on Easter Monday and art workshops on Saturday April 6.

The workshops cost £15 to take part in with art materials provided and are suitable for people aged over 16. No experience is necessary and the workshops run between 10am 12 noon: ‘Paint the Shropshire Hills in Watercolour’ and 2-4pm: ‘Paint Flowers in Mixed Media’
