Sustainable Bridgnorth has launched the Crida Community Wind exhibition, to examine the impact of two medium-sized turbines on a ridge 3 miles west of Bridgnorth between Meadowley and Chetton. It is claimed that the turbines would generate enough electricity to cover 750 homes, making an annual carbon saving of 1790 tonnes of CO2. Bob Ensum of Sustainable Bridgnorth explained: “This would be very different to a commercial wind farm, being small scale and community-owned”. In response to the proposal, the ‘Stop Bridgnorth Wind Farm Action Group’ led by William Cash has sprung up, organising a well-attended local protest meeting last month. Mr Cash told the meeting: “These two turbines will be put close to the famous medieval Jack Mytton Way, one of the jewels in the crown of Shropshire”.
