Walking the Bridgnorth steps

Walking the Steps

Twenty nine intrepid walkers took part in Bridgnorth Rotary Club’s first ever sponsored ‘Steps Walk’. Starting in Severn Park, the route included all ten sets of steps from Low Town to High Town.

The first to arrive at the Town Hall was David Allen in just under an hour, closely followed by Wendy Barker. The Mayor, Councillor Ray Gill, was walker number one and walked up Ebenezer Steps twice –presumably due to a map-reading error! – but still finished in sixth place.

It’s hoped that the Steps Walk will become a regular Bridgnorth fixture. Funds raised amounted to almost two thousand pounds, and will go to the League of Friends of Bridgnorth Hospital and local charities.
