Salop Leisure has donated £1,000 to Severn Hospice following its World Cup fundraising initiative.
For every goal England scored during the World Cup, Salop Leisure donated £50. With 20 goals scored, the total raised reached £1,000 for the local charity. England and France both scored 20 goals during the tournament, the highest number scored, with finalists Argentina and Spain scoring 19 and 14 respectively.
Jenny Bean, Severn Hospice’s Fundraising Manager, said, “We’re so grateful to everyone at Salop Leisure for turning a fun World Cup fundraising idea into such a fantastic donation towards our caring services. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of local businesses and communities to help us provide free specialist care and support to local families living with incurable illness.
“We’re proud to count Salop Leisure as one of our longstanding supporters over many years. Their ongoing commitment helps ensure we can continue being there for people across our communities at the most difficult times.”
Salop Leisure has been fundraising for Severn Hospice throughout the year. Another recent fundraiser was for the Dragon Boat Festival, where the team raised £1,350.

They offer support to local people facing incurable illness, helping patients and their families through every stage of their journey.
