A partnership in Bridgnorth is celebrating scooping a national community award at a recent London ceremony. Bridgnorth West and Tasley Partnership took first prize in the Compact Engagement Award for enhancements in Tasley Close and a community garden project.
The partnership was set up to look at resolving anti-social behaviour and minor disputes, and residents undertook a range of work including community clean-up days, a garden focus group, drop-in events, a primary school art competition and a ‘hyper-local’ website.
Shropshire Councillor Les Winwood said, “The award is testament to the partnership’s hard work. The enhancements have turned this neighbourhood around and made it a vibrant and flourishing community, and a great place to live. I’d like to thank everyone for their dedication.”
John Hurst-Knight, Shropshire Councillor for Bridgnorth West and Tasley, said, “Winning this award illustrates that real improvements can be made in local communities when organisations and residents work closely together.”
