This year’s Bridgnorth Sinfonia Christmas concert take place in the town’s St Mary Magdalene church on Sunday 16 December. It will feature a broad repertoire, paying homage to winter with performances of Waldteufel’s Skater’s Waltz and Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride. They will also perform Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kije and Britten’s Musicales.
The highlight of the event will be Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations when the Sinfonia will be joined by award-winning 20-year-old cello soloist Hattie Butterworth. Hattie, who plays a Neuner and Hornsteiner cello dating back to 1890 and is currently studying at the Royal College of Music, has previously given solo recitals at venues such as London Charterhouse and Manchester Cathedral. To help fund the Sinfonia’s campaign to encourage children to learn a musical instrument, a quiz night will take place at the White Lion in Bridgnorth on Tuesday 27 November at 7.30pm.
