Giant celebrations for Telford schools

As part of Telford’s 50th birthday celebrations, every primary school in Telford has received a special Telford 50 memento from T&W Council. The special delivery included 50 daffodil bulbs, Telford 50 library cards for each child, and two copies of the Telford 50 book, The Ironbridge Ogre, written by Toni Sian Williams. The town celebrated its birthday on Thursday 29 November.

Cllr Shirley Reynolds says, “As part of Telford’s 50th birthday, we want to get as many schools in the borough as possible involved in the celebrations and in creating a legacy for our town. Throughout 2018, it’s been great to see so many schools hosting their own Telford 50 events including lessons on Telford’s history, taking part in legacy projects or in events such as Discover Digital.

“Schools will then be able to create their own lessons based on the Ironbridge Ogre story and children can learn about what makes our borough a great place to live, work and visit. We hope that these gifts will bring joy to the children and will keep the Telford 50 spirit going.”
