A local coffee manufacturer has taken on board the national drive to cut down on packaging waste. Ground coffee specialists Hundred House Coffee, based near Shrewsbury, are offering customers who buy more than 10kg of their ground coffee the chance to refill their empty containers instead of buying new ones every time.

The company, which recently won a Great Taste award as well as being shortlisted in the Young British Foodies awards, will collect the empties when they deliver each new stock of coffee, or on the same day weekly.

Hundred House Coffee’s Annabelle de Gersigny explains, “We think we might be the first roastery in the UK to be switching out cardboard boxes and coffee bags combined!”
