Christmas craft fair marks 20th anniversary

A long-running designer craft event hosts its Christmas Fair at the new venue of Ludlow Racecourse on 28 and 29 November from 10am until 4pm.

Now in its 20th year, the popular fair, called Gorgeous, is organised by the Shropshire Guild of Designer Makers and features craftspeople and artisans from across the West Midlands.

“Gorgeous is a celebration of contemporary creative skills, promoting the work of designers and craftspeople in the region,” said Caroline Bennett of the guild.

“We are very excited to be moving from Ironbridge to a new venue, Ludlow Racecourse, giving people the opportunity to discover the talents of nationally and internationally recognised artists and crafts people.

“Gorgeous means you can get ahead of your Christmas gift list or find the perfect treat for yourself. The exhibitors will be on hand to give an insight to their work and to answer any questions.”

There will be music at the event, with a ukulele band performing two sets on Saturday and solo singer Marcy O performing on Sunday morning.

Entry to Gorgeous is free of charge. This year’s top exhibitors include Fiona Jackson, metal jeweller. Full of colour and light, Fiona’s wearable art draws on imagery from the distant past and the natural world, worked in anodised metal.
