Climate and energy charity appeals for volunteers

Local charity Marches Energy Agency is looking for Shropshire-based people interested in helping everyone in their community to keep warm, save energy and cut carbon use.

The charity offers comprehensive training in energy efficiency provided by expert in-house energy advisors in order to help volunteers become a Community Climate Connector in their local area. These sessions are completely customisable but could include how to:

  • Conduct home visits to give basic energy efficiency advice to householders.
  • Provide and install low-cost measures into people’s homes (e.g. LED bulbs, draught excluders etc).
  • Use thermal imaging cameras (subject to availability).
  • Conduct Home Energy Audits using the charity’s HEAT app to identify opportunities to save energy, carbon, and money.
  • Signpost householders towards grant funding opportunities.
  • Be carbon aware through carbon literacy training which is delivered in collaboration with Save Our Shropshire.

The charity also provides marketing resources, social media and event support, and administrative tasks with its in-house team of marketing experts.

All volunteering opportunities are subject to a fully funded DBS check.

For more information call 0800 677 1307 (option 5) or email; office@mea.org.uk
