Star bakers

Castlefields School in Bridgnorth set its pupils a half-term learning challenge to bake cakes or biscuits using at least one Fair Trade product. A boy and girl from each class were then chosen by the school council to make their cake at a special Bake Off event on Red Nose Day. The winner was Year 1 pupil Jack Kinnersley, assisted by Scarlett Wright from Year 5.

Teacher Richard Nelson said, “It was really clear that the children have lots of experience of cooking at home. They amazed us all with their confident skills and everybody enjoyed the tasty creations.”

Year 2 pupil Ben Nicholson said, “I thought it was very good because I liked looking at the cakes. It was a really fun day.”
