A taste for Shrewsbury

More than 26,000 people are expected to attend this year’s award-winning Shrewsbury Food Festival, which takes place in Quarry Park on 24 and 25 June. The mouthwatering event will feature 200 artisan producers and a packed programme of entertainment for all the family.

Now in its fifth year, the festival is going from strength to strength and has drawn a host of national names to demonstrate their skills. These include TV chef Sally Bee, who cooks for ITV’s Lorraine; Nathan Eades from Simpsons and Stephane Borie from The Checkers. They will be supported by Shropshire’s own stars including Chris Burt from The Peach Tree and Karl Martin from Old Downton Lodge.

This festival sees a new craft area featuring potters, glass blowers, artists, and photographers. In addition, each year the festival donates money to a local school to build a garden and invitations are being invited from schools again this year. Adult tickets cost £7, children £2 and family tickets are £15. Further details as well as pre-booked tickets are available fromshrewsburyfoodfestival.co.uk.
