In good voice

Les Cherrington was recently presented with a Long Service Award for his 36 years’ service to the Shifnal and District Male Voice Choir by chair Mike Ward. Les, having just celebrated his 101st birthday, is still an active member, singing regularly and serving as the choir’s president.

He’s well known locally as always having a positive attitude and being a great example of the benefits of singing in a choir. Research shows that singing acts as a general workout, improves your posture and learning new songs keeps your mind active together with the social activities.

The Choir rehearses at 7.30pm on Thursday evenings at Idsall School Sports Centre and are always looking for new members. There are no auditions and you do not have to be able to read music. For details visit shifnalmvc.org.uk.
