The winning season

A community-run pub, the George and Dragon in Much Wenlock’s High Street, has been awarded CAMRA’s Pub of the Season for Autumn.

Licensees Robin Bennett and Richard Torr said, “It’s a great reward for Shona, Pete and the whole pub. We keep five real ales on tap including our new George and Dragon Amber Ale which is brewed specially for us. We’re so pleased that CAMRA and their members have given us this award.”

Continuing their winning streak, they are also hoping to win Parliamentary Pub of the Year an award that recognises the dedication to serving the local community. The pub, which had faced closure back in 2018, was revived after a group of locals joined forces to keep it alive – and the team celebrated their first anniversary this October.
