Green belt action

Save Bridgnorth Green Belt action group celebrated as controversial plans to build on the site at Stanmore were axed. The group of volunteers are dedicated to raising awareness about the effect the development of a country park they say could have on local residents.

Proposals include 850 homes to be built up until 2036, with even more earmarked to be built after 2036. Campaigners have been critical over the proposals insisting they are not needed for the town. Stanmore Consortium disagree, saying said the new housing would help meet the shortage of homes in the local area and create more jobs.

Andy Howard from Friends of Stanmore Country Park said, “While it is the right and only logical decision, it is shameful that the area was proposed for development in the first plan.”
