We know it already, but a nationally-run competition by the Department for Communities and Local Government has proved once and for all that Bridgnorth has it all! The town has scooped top prize in the Large Market Town category, beating the other two finalists, Hinkley and Market Harborough… and the town was also was declared the overall winner of the Great British High Street competition.

The campaign to earn the town the recognition it deserves was spearheaded by social media mavens Sally Themans of Love Bridgnorth and Sarah Stevens of Buy Big in Bridgnorth, and Sally says the pair are over the moon: “This is a fantastic accolade for our town. We’ve been quite amazed by the way everyone – businesses, local organisations and residents – have come together in a fabulous show of support. This is a very proud day in the history of Bridgnorth.”
As well as national acclaim, the town has won a money prize, expert training for shops and restaurants, and specialist advice on improving social media promotion.
