Dynamic quartet to perform in Shropshire

An award-winning classical music quartet will perform in Shrewsbury on 8 May.

The Carducci Quartet (pictured) is internationally acclaimed as one of the most accomplished and versatile ensembles of today.

Appearing at St Alkmund’s Church from 7.30pm, the concert is part of the Shropshire Music Trust programme and will feature celebrated pianist Simon Callaghan.

The programme will include Dmitri Shostakovich: Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 57; Caroline Shaw: Entr’acte and Robert Schumann: Piano Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 44.

John Moore, musical director of the Shropshire Music Trust, said: “We are pleased to announce that the dynamic Carduccis will team up once again with young international star Simon Callaghan. Simon played with the quartet in our 2023-24 season and their wonderful performance prompted a standing ovation.”

Founded in 1997, the ensemble was a prize winner at numerous international competitions, including the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and Finland’s Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition.
