Spring yarn bomb

Anyone walking through Bridgnorth’s Castle Gardens will have noticed the knitted and crocheted flowers adorning the rails near the ruins. This ‘yarn bombing’ is the work of Softly in Bridgnorth, a group set up last year by town resident Janine Harley.

Janine said, “The first project we did was for Remembrance Sunday, when about 400 flowers were put on railings in the Castle Gardens.

“We’re working on plans for this year’s yarn bomb of poppies, with a view to having them tumbling down the castle walls. If this goes ahead, we’d need about 5,000 flowers and volunteers to help us.”
