STAAR men – and women

A new summer camp for young people proved a success this year – so organisers will be running it again in 2019. Northrop Grumman, Tablet Academy and Royal Air Force Museum Cosford joined forces this July to deliver the Summer Time Advanced Aerospace Residency (STAAR) programme, a week-long summer camp for young people aged 14 and 15 years.

The STAAR programme has been designed to provide a unique experience that will inspire young adults, help them to understand more about advanced aerospace systems engineering and encourage them to study and take up careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related fields.

RAF Museum’s Maggie Appleton says, “We’re passionate about inspiring young people into STEM careers, capturing their imaginations through stories of the RAF and its partners, stories drawn from the rich shared history and innovative vision of the future.”
