University plans revealed

A base for the University of Wolverhampton which would provide places for 1,000 students could be created in Telford, according to new plans.

Telford & Wrekin Council and the university have revealed the proposed new venture which could be located overlooking one end of Southwater’s lake, next to Telford Ice Rink and the Travelodge hotel.
A range of different funding and investment models are being explored for the scheme which, if the go-ahead is given, would represent one of the final pieces in the completion of the Southwater complex which has been delivered through a £250m public/private partnership.

Council leader Cllr Shaun Davies said: “This could be a really important development for the borough which would further strengthen and grow the success of Southwater and Telford Centre as a regional destination.”
